January 11, 2014- January 28, 2014 Misc + excuses....

So Its been a rough dose of reality the past few weeks. I realized i set an unrealistic goal thus setting myself up for failure from the start. In the past few weeks a few things that could be summed up with the title of "Life" got in the way. My sister had a major neck surgery having metal plates put in due to a bulging disc between 5 and 6. So while visiting her for a few days during her recovery I didn't do anything artistic. Although i have constantly kept art on my mind so the goal has been successful in that sense. Another set back was I  have had strep throat for about a week and just started antibiotics. Technically i could have worked on my art while sick but i haven't really felt up to anything. But meanwhile in between these events I've done a few small things here and there including attending a Billy Joel concert (which we were promoted from our nose bleed seats to front row by his staff to mix up the demographic.)

January 10, 2014 Art talk, inspiration, and planning

Today's art began with an inspiring art talk with a fellow artist Jolene Dubray. We discussed current works, goals, and started beginning plans to participate in Flagler creates with Flagler college. We intend to do a performance piece but have yet to start a list of potential ideas. Looking forward to collaborating with Jolene on this.

January 7, 2014 Started to remember how to crochet.

Attempted random patterns of crocheting I remembered from my childhood to start a hat.. The attempt was unsuccessful as a hat however I did relearn some stitches and will continue to learn...this exercise was based strictly on memory and winging it. I will be seeking advice from my mom and internet instructions for my next attempt.

January 6, 2014 Gesso mini canvas to prep for future painting.

January 5, 2014 Additions to ongoing toothpick sculpture.

January 1, 2014.... Mug doodles!

2014 Goal: Everyday art...or...Art everyday...

I am creating this as a goal to keep art active in my life and get my mind and heart back to art. It could be to create something new or to start something and work on it or add to it daily. This is so that I am getting my creative juices flowing and producing some kind of effort to create art every single day for the year 2014. As a result this will keep art as a constant in my mind thus contributing to a productive and positive year and an overall happier me. I will try to update or upload often titling each progress with the date in which it was addressed. "A goal is a dream with a deadline." -Napoleon Hill (brainyquotes.com)

Drunken doodles with a paintbrush...

What better to do when you get home from the bar at 2am and your just not ready to go to sleep than get out some paints, paint brushes, and doodle.

Pelican!

Oil painting I'm working on.

Bella!

A work in process.
Chalk and charcoal drawing of my friend Andrea's daughter Bella.

Pandora is free...The booze is not!

These paintings are the beginning to a series I am working on called "Pandora is free... The Booze is not!" The idea is to make a series of oil paintings of this style while taking note of the pandora station I'm listening to and what beverage I'm consuming during the paintings creation. The First painting was "Red wine/blush and Mumford & sons" The second painting was "Newcastle and Bob Dylan"

Installation ...BA portfolio show

I crocheted 9663 feet of yarn and fishing line. This is one foot for every day that I have been alive up to tonight's show. I chose colors that are reminiscent of the ocean. I spent my entire life around the ocean. I am a Florida native and the ocean has been a huge part of my life. Along with my parents taking me to the beach, the bays, and the Florida keys my mother taught me various crafts as a child and crocheting was one of those. This installation is nostalgic for my childhood and my life to its present moment.
